Professor Lukas Koelsch was awarded a Simons Travel Support for Mathematicians Grant for $42,000 over a five-year period for a project titled "Constructions and investigations of semifields and highly nonlinear functions, and their applications in cryptography and coding theory". The project aims to analyze and construct algebraic objects whose inherent structure and symmetry makes them interesting candidates for use in cryptographic and coding theoretic applications.
