David Kilmnick, PhD, an assistant professor of instruction of social work, received an award for "Outstanding Faculty Contribution to LGBTQ Life at °®¶¹´«Ã½" at the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Lavender Ceremony. MSW students Kristin Dawes and Nicole Guittard were also recognized at the event and received certificates of achievement.
The Lavender Ceremony is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ students at the university to participate in a graduation ceremony that celebrates their community. LGBTQ+ students and allies were acknowledged for their achievements and contributions to °®¶¹´«Ã½.
Kilmnick is a leading national advocate within the LGBTQ+ communities and is the founder and President/CEO of the New York LGBT Network. At °®¶¹´«Ã½, he recently supported the approval and establishment of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG): LGBTQ+ Faculty and Staff Association. Kilmnick is the contact with °®¶¹´«Ã½ Human Resources and serves on the leadership team working with faculty from the Muma College of Business and °®¶¹´«Ã½ Health.
