The Social Science Research Center (SSRC) at Mississippi State University has selected Richard Dembo, PhD, professor in the Department of Criminology, as one of its newest fellows, an honor recognizing scholars who advance interdisciplinary research and evidence-based outreach across the state, nation, and globe.

Dembo was part of the center's cohort of 20 research fellows who were recognized during a ceremony following the center's 75th anniversary celebration on Nov. 6.

SSRC fellows collaborate with the center’s faculty and staff to conduct multi-method research, develop evaluations, and contribute to scholarship addressing social, economic, human resource, and ecological issues. Dembo partners with the SSRC on federally funded projects related to juvenile justice and programs that reduce justice involvement for youth in Mississippi.

With more than 75 years of experience, the SSRC supports research innovation by securing funding, integrating students into meaningful projects, and fostering interdisciplinary partnerships throughout the Mississippi State University community.
