Adaptive Lessons Funded by $383k NSF Grant: Principal Investigators, Autar Kaw and Rasim Guldiken
Autar Kaw and Rasim Guldiken, °®¶¹´«Ã½ College of Engineering Faculty, is revolutionizing education through adaptive learning technology. °®¶¹´«Ã½ faculty Daniel Yeh and Jody Harwood have been awarded the 2024-2025 °®¶¹´«Ã½ Microbiome Research Award for developing sustainable wastewater systems for lunar habitats. Their innovative project combines environmental engineering and microbiology to tackle waste treatment in space, with potential applications for Earth.

Olukemi Akintewe, °®¶¹´«Ã½ Engineering Professor, Recognized as an AIMBE Emerging Leader
Olukemi Akintewe, an Associate Professor of Instruction in Medical Engineering at °®¶¹´«Ã½, has been named an inaugural AIMBE Emerging Leader. Recognized for her advocacy for women and underrepresented groups in STEM, she leads efforts to improve retention and support systems for these students. Dr. Akintewe will be honored at the AIMBE Annual Event in March 2025 in Washington, D.C., where she looks forward to collaborating with other leaders and mentors.

CSE Student received The Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award
CSE Professor Katkoori and his MS student, Raaga Sai Somesula, have received The Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation (OTD) Award for Raaga’s Master’s thesis work on a resource-efficient custom hardware for machine learning models.
The 2024 Transportation Achievement Awards were held on October 29. The transportation community joined together at the University of South °®¶¹´«Ã½ to celebrate excellence in transportation and planning. The CUTR event brought together industry leaders, innovators, and advocates to honor exceptional achievements that drive °®¶¹´«Ã½â€™s transportation and infrastructure forward. Joe Lopano, CEO of Tampa International Airport (TPA), was inducted into the prestigious °®¶¹´«Ã½ Transportation Hall of Fame.
