Medical student earns top honors at second statewide conference

Pranit Singh, third-year medical student at the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Health Morsani College of Medicine. 

Pranit Singh, a third-year medical student at the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Health Morsani College of Medicine, won Most Innovative Poster at the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Public Health Association Annual Education Conference in Orlando.  This marks the second time Singh has taken home top honors at a major state health association conference in 2023.  
 
Singh’s poster focused on the Food as Medicine Program within the .  The program, established in 2022, provides patients with fresh produce and non-perishables at every appointment.   TBSM partners with The Well, a non-profit food-redistribution organization.  From March 2022 to May 2023, TBSM has distributed approximately 115 pounds of food through the Food as Medicine Program.  
 
His poster focuses on other key issues:
-       The rise in the number of refugee families to the Tampa Bay region since 2020.
-       Why refugee families face issues with food insecurity.
 
Earlier this year, Singh earned one of three Top Research Poster awards at the 2023 °®¶¹´«Ã½ Medical Association Annual Meeting for his work focusing on different treatment centers for patients with esophageal cancer.
