The undergraduate clinical labs at the University of South °®¶¹´«Ã½ provide a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to bridge foundational scientific knowledge with practical, real-world applications in a clinical setting. Our core objective is to prepare future healthcare and research professionals with the skills necessary to excel in the medical field.
Key Laboratory Objectives
- Mastering Diagnostic Techniques: Gain proficiency in performing a wide variety of clinical diagnostic assays, from
glucose and protein analysis to cholesterol and thyroid hormone tests.
- Developing Critical Thinking: Learn to analyze and interpret complex patient data to form accurate diagnoses for
real-world case studies.
- Applying Scientific Principles: Understand the clinical significance of laboratory values and how they relate to
various disease states, patient conditions, and potential treatments.
- Advancing Scientific Communication: Cultivate a mastery of formal scientific writing through the preparation of comprehensive
lab reports, a cornerstone of professional communication.
- Nurturing a Culture of Safety and Responsibility: Safety is the number one priority in our labs. °®¶¹´«Ã½ are required to learn and comply with all safety rules, procedures, and practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical handling, and waste disposal. This instills a strong sense of professionalism and ethical conduct.
