JOHN TAT, Ph.D., is a translational medicine specialist with experience spanning oncology, toxicology, pulmonology, and drug development. He has extensive experience teaching and mentoring traditional, non-traditional, and career-changing students preparing for medical school, including positions at UC San Diego, San Diego State University, and The Scripps Research Institute. He earned a double baccalaureate in physiology and neuroscience and history from UC San Diego and a doctorate in molecular medicine from The Scripps Research Institute. He is deeply familiar with the academic rigor and expectations of medical training, including mastery of core biomedical concepts, MCAT-level reasoning, and the development of clinical and scientific thinking skills. His pedagogy is built on the 2011 AAAS Vision and Change¡¯s challenge to teach biomedical science in ways that emphasize problem-solving, data interpretation, and applying scientific principles to medically relevant scenarios. His goal is to help post-baccalaureate pre-med students build the intellectual foundation, confidence, and discipline needed to successfully apply to medical school.
